Apple Crisp

This is the apple crisp Gavin and I like to make.  It’s different from my mom’s recipe in that you make it from the oven.  I like making apple crisp because it’s almost as good as pie (maybe as good as, in my opinion) but so much less work!  That’s why apple crisp is awesome.

You’ll need:

  • 4 tablespoons butter, cold
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1″ chunks
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Cut your butter into little pieces and mix it with the flour, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon until it’s pebbly.

Then put your apples in a greased 8″ baking dish.

Add the lemon juice and stir.

Pour the streusel topping over the apples.

Make sure it’s evenly distributed.

Bake at 350˚ for about an hour, or until the apples are soft and the toppling is browned.  Serve with vanilla ice cream.  Yum!
